In parent's own words...

Nana's Place is so special to our family. I was so nervous to go back to work after each of my boys were born. The one thing that made me feel better was that my 6 month old and later my 4 month old would be in the care of Nana's place.   I went to many daycare centers and didn't feel right or 100% comfortable with any of them. When I went toNana's place, I immediately felt at home and that feeling still remains when my 5 year old and 8 year old now go back many years later to visit the place that helped them learn and grow.  Nana and her staff are warm, loving, nurturing, wonderful educators and the most caring women I know. My boys loved going to Nana's Place each day and formed incredible bonds with her staff.

Nana helped us with so many transitions with each of our boys. She helped them get on a napping schedule, she helped them learn to love a wide variety of foods, she helped to toilet train both of our boys and taught them a lot about play, arts and crafts, early literacy and more.

Both of my boys were fluent in Spanish - it was fantastic! I only wish we could have continued this through pre-school and elementary school. I was worried at first that my boys would only know Spanish and not be learning enough English. That was not the case! By learning two languages at the same time, my boys really flourished in their language abilities and growth!

Nana's Place also created a community of the families that came to the daycare. She made a banquet dinner for the parents each year, made family holiday celebrations, invited parents in for parties and more. It was wonderful to get to know these other families and their children and my boys are still friends with many of their peers from Nana's today!

As a new mom you feel very vulnerable leaving your baby in the care of other people. However, at Nana’s Place they loved and cared for my baby as if he were their own. They were there to guide him through his major developmental milestones and raised him in a very loving environment.

We appreciated that we always felt 100% secure leaving our son at Nana’s Place.  I also love that they made special crafts for the kids and took the time to make fun celebrations of birthdays and “graduation.”

Nana was always my guiding light when I had any parenting questions. She’s had tons of experience and knows everything there is about the ins and outs of childhood. In addition, she was able to get my very poor sleeper of a son on a schedule where he would nap regularly for hours at a time!

The Spanish Immersion program was definitely helpful in priming the foundation for my child to learn a new language. He didn’t speak a ton at daycare due to his age, but by the time he started his Spanish immersion preschool his vocabulary really took off and I believe it’s due to the early exposure at Nana’s Place.

The socialization at Nana’s Place between the children and caregivers was very helpful in teaching my son fundamental skills like sharing, cleaning up, playing, eating properly and sleeping. Melby has a teaching credential so my son was taught colors, letters and numbers at a very early stage which gave him a step ahead in preschool.
